Power of Perseverance

Texas ranks as the fifth-largest wine-producing state in the US, and the Texas Hill Country comes in as third largest on the list of growing regions in the country. Becker Vineyards, an award-winning establishment, calls this place home. They operate a winery and tasting room, and host an annual festival celebrating the lavender fields that flourish alongside the Stoechas varietal used in their wines.

Becker Farms was first started by Dr. Richard Becker and his wife Bunny to commercially grow Viognier. After being inspired by a trip to France, they sought to duplicate a similar model in Texas. This included planting fields of flowers such as red poppies, blue bonnets, and lavender alongside their grape variety.

Tragedy struck when the unpredictable Texas weather, swinging from drought to heavy monsoons, took a severe toll on the farm, leading to significant crop losses. Faced with these challenges, they needed a resilient plant capable of surviving the harsh climate. They chose Stoechas, which proved to be the right choice, securing their future.

Now, visitors to Becker Vineyards enjoy the rewards of the Becker’s unwavering determination. They taste award winning wines from the winery and gaze on their lavender fields, named Clementine's Garden, in honor of their daughter Clementine.  Guest can enjoy the lavender blooming season April through May and can stroll through the rows or sit under the pavilion while enjoying a glass of wine.

The Label

Becker Vineyards, a 308 acre estate is located north of San Antonio and west of Austin in the heart of what is considered the 'Texas Hill Country.' Becker Farms cultivates 11 wine grape varietals alongside lavender fields and seasonal flower plantings.

The Becker Family aspires to maintain an "Old World" feel at the winery. The 12,000 sq. ft. facility is a reproduction of a late 19th century German stone barn. Contained within are 74 fermentation tanks and over 5500 barrels used during the aging process. The bottling plant produces 55 bottles per minute and distribution are mostly sent to locations within the state of Texas. Most wines featured at the winery are exclusive to that location alone.

Becker wines have been served to three US Presidents and on ten occasions at James Beard Dinners in New York. Each year they also produce the annual Lavender Festival first started by Bunny Becker. Since 1992, Becker Vineyards has become a truly renowned and highly coveted brand within the Texas Wine industry.
