Moody Gardens Hotel, Spa & Convention Center is pleased to announce Shearn’s Restaurant has signed on to participate in the widely acclaimed Houston Restaurant Weeks (HRW). Held throughout the month of August, HRW is an opportunity for diners to support local food banks while enjoying some of the finest cuisine in the greater Houston and surrounding areas.
Shearn’s Executive Chef Urs Schmid has prepared a special HRW menu. The three course meal includes a selection of specialties such as Parmesan Crusted Mahi-Mahi topped with Lump Crab Meat in Lemon Caper Butter, Petit Filet Mignon Béarnaise with Grilled Jumbo Gulf Shrimp, Chicken Piccata, Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Tart with Chocolate Sauce, and Crème Brulee with Fresh Berries. The special HRW menu is available for $35 per person exclusive of tax and gratuity. Restaurants participating in HRW have pledged to donate $5 for every HRW dinner sold.
Chef Schmid is honored to have Shearn’s featured as part of the 2012 HRW. “We are very excited and honored to play a part in this year’s HRW fund raising campaign, and with the money raised from Shearn’s going directly to the Galveston County Food Bank it is a great opportunity to give back to the local community.”
To participate in HRW, diners should visit HoustonRestaurantWeeks.com to search for participating restaurants then make a dining reservation and mention that you would like the HRW special menu. Last year’s HRW campaign totaled $800,000 in donations and with this year’s inclusion of Galveston and Montgomery counties, HRW has set its sights even higher.
Located on the 9th floor of the Moody Gardens Hotel, Shearn’s is recognized as one of Galveston’s finest restaurants with unsurpassed cuisine and service. Locals flock to Shearn’s for Chef Schmid’s signature dishes served in an upscale ambiance with stunning views of the Moody Garden’s pyramids and sunsets over Galveston Bay. Houston Restaurant Weeks was established in 2003 by Cleverly Stone, one of the leading food authorities in the Houston area. Affectionately referred to in the food community as the “Diva of Dining,” Stone is also the host of “The Cleverly Show” on Houston’s Talk 650/CBS Radio and a contributor to Houston’s Fox 26 Morning News. HRW showcases and promotes the incredible array of fine dining restaurants in the greater Houston area while raising money for the Houston Food Bank. HRW is planned by volunteers and 100% of funds raised are donated to the Houston Food Bank. With the additions of restaurants in Galveston and Montgomery counties, 100% of the proceeds raised from participating restaurants in those counties will go directly to their local area food banks. To date, HRW has raised more than $1.7 million to fight hunger.
