Galveston Island, TX (May 7, 2012) — Moody Gardens Golf Course is celebrating female golfers the entire month of May with specialized clinics, discounted rates and fun events.
Beginning Monday, May 7 and throughout the entire month except Memorial Day, each Monday, Wednesday and Friday will be designated “Ladies Day” and female golfers will be able to play for only $20 per person, including cart. Tee time reservations are highly recommended, and can be made by calling the Pro Shop at 409.683.GOLF.
Moms can golf for free on Mother’s Day with the purchase of a round of golf by their partner on May 13. Tee times can be reserved online or by calling the Moody Gardens Golf Course.
Ladies thinking about giving golf a try but not sure how to begin can attend a group clinic series designed specifically for women. Taught by PGA Professional Rick Christ, participants will receive four hours of instruction in a small-group environment for only $50. The first clinic series will be held Wednesday, May 9 and Friday, May 11 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. The second series will be held Wednesday, May 16 and Friday, May 18 from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays will cover an introduction to golf and short game fundamentals. Fridays will cover more advanced topics including the full swing. “We look forward to these upcoming programs and hope to encourage more women to play golf at Moody Gardens Golf Course,” says General Manager Bill Pushak. “We hope this will grow the female golfing community in Galveston and that there will be enough interest to establish a regular weekly ladies golf game, similar to our Thursday cash game and Monday senior game, all year long.”
Women’s Golf Month will wrap up with a special celebration on Saturday, June 2, 2012. Female golfers can expect a special rate to play, great deals in the Pro Shop and at the Pelican Grille, and a unique Longest Drive competition benefitting Rally for the Cure, a fundraiser for the Susan G. Komen For the Cure organization that has raised over $65 million since 1996. The Rally for the Cure Longest Drive Contest entry fee is $20, and each participant receives a goody bag, entry into a door prize drawing, and a chance at winning the contest grand prize!
