Galveston, TX… Moody Gardens® presents Bones: An Exhibit Inside You. Guests can learn about health issues, including keeping bones strong by eating a diet rich in calcium and getting plenty of exercise –an important message in response to the declining level of athleticism among children and an increase in preventable condition, osteoporosis. The exhibit can even help children learn science, namely biology and the anatomy of the human body.
“With many health concerns out there today, it’s important to teach children about health from young ages,” said General Manager John Zendt. “This exhibit will show both children and adults why it’s important to have a healthy lifestyle by focusing on bones which are some of the most fundamental parts of the body. We are hoping to raise awareness among our visitors in a fun and exciting way,” he added.
With a comprehensive lesson, the Bones exhibit is also designed to help children’s science studies and even their career exploration, providing valuable information about occupations in science.
The interactive and educational Bones adventure begins as visitors move through the covered bridge entrance where images of humans transform into skeletons. This introduction gives a personal perspective; after all, we’re all made of bones. Visitors are invited to participate in hands-on activity areas, such as Home, Fitness Center, Medical Center and Zoo. It also will reveal various bone-related factors such as how modern technology provides ways to keep bones healthy, what keeps the body upright to how bones have found their way into the art, music and literature of people around the world.
Bones: An Exhibit Inside You is housed at the Moody Gardens® Discovery Pyramid®. Admission is $5.25 and the exhibit is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, call Moody Gardens at 1-800-582-4673 or visit www.moodygardens.org.
