Educator Workshops

Participate in an exploratory workshop that demonstrates fun ways to bring rainforests, oceans, or space into your classroom. Take home curriculum complete with TEKS correlations in math, science, and social studies. Earn credit toward Continuing Professional Education as established by the State Board of Educator Certification (SBEC). Workshops include hands-on activities, educational materials, and a guided visit through one of the attractions at Moody Gardens®.

Full Day Workshop:
Participants will earn six (6) SBEC credit hours, enjoy the lunch buffet in the Garden Restaurant, receive a guided tour of one of the Pyramids at Moody Gardens®, and take home a copy of the applicable curriculum and all the related activities.

9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., lunch included
$55 per person 

Half Day Workshops:
Participants will earn four (4) SBEC credit hours, receive a guided tour of one of the Pyramids at Moody Gardens®, and take home a copy of the applicable curriculum and all the related activities.

9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., lunch not included
$40 per person

Forgotten Gateway: Coming to America through Galveston Island Educator Night
Join us for a special educators – only screening of Forgotten Gateway: Coming to America through Galveston Island.  Discover the role Galveston Island played in immigration during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. 

When: Tuesday, January 19, 2010, 4 p.m. - 7 p.m.
Where: Discovery Museum at Moody Gardens®
Who: Educators and one guest

14th Annual Educator Open House - November 6, 2010

Earn SBEC credits while discovering fun ways to bring the rainforests and oceans alive in your classroom or join us for our annual Educators Open House.

Annual Educator Open House
All area educators and supporting school staff are invited to participate in this fun event! Show your school ID** at the registration table in the Visitor Center Circle. Please visit the FAQ section for more information. Frequently Asked Questions

After registering, you will:

- Receive free admission into all Moody Gardens® attractions (school I.D. required**)
- Have the option of participating in field trip and outreach presentations
- Be entered into the drawing for various door prizes including free field trips and workshops
- Recieve a tote bag and boxed lunch (first 1,000 participants)
- Learn about the volunteer opportunities available at Moody - Gardens®
- Gather free educational materials (while supplies last)
- Get activity ideas for use in your classroom
- Discover what educational programs are available from other area attractions

Earn up to 4 SBEC hours or just come out and have fun!

Family members may purchase day passes for just $21.00 per person (no additional discounts apply).

Pre-registration is not required. However, it will speed the process of registration on the day of the event.
